SPORTS FOCUSED MARKETING

With a problem a question will always arise from it. How can we stand out in a saturated market and what can we do that has not been done yet? That is when the creative mind gets to work and beautiful things can be done. It all starts with an initial idea. From there, you can begin to weave the design and the story together.

Questions I asked myself:

How is my industry typically advertising?

Looking at the industry many of our peers had been focusing in on lifestyle imaging and just basic product photography and graphics.

In order to stand out from the crowd I began to look at marketing efforts pursued by other industries and made the choice to change our design style.

Instead of utilizing the lifestyle images the majority of our competitors utilized, we began to use a illustration. That way we could breathe life back into our brand and reviatlize our image into something that hadn’t been done much in our industry. In my sports focused marketing I also began to take inspiration from apparel and sports industries to see what was relevant and what consumers would gravitate towards.

How can I make my products stand out from the crowd?

With our brand being local and a presence in Arlington right outside of their home field, we had to capitalize on baseball but we had 1 issue. This issue was that the Texas Rangers name could not be touched due to their partnership with ABI.

This is where my inspiration for ambush marketing and utilizing Professional Baseball Player Jonah Heim was born. Playing on the World Series team (The Texas Rangers) Jonah was an integral piece of cementing the championship and while we couldn’t utilize his team, we could utilize Jonah.

How can I make people draw a connection between my products and a franchise I can’t touch?
